Emergency Services For HAMS

Marion County emergency communication services are listed in the attached tabs…

ARES has a website but it isn’t as informative as it could be. ARES meets in person once a month with MERT and the hospital EMCOM team. ARES is light on training and information passes to ARES volunteers.

Marion Emergency Radio Team is very structured. It is a subset of the Sheriff’s Emergency Operations Center. MERT’s primary concerns are the shelters and out-of-county communications. It does not provide the same services that ARES is responsible for.

The county hospitals have their own emergency operations teams and procedures.

MERT and the hospitals rely on WinLink to pass information.

MERT operates 3 D-Star repeaters in the county. At this time, none are connected to reflectors. None of the emergency service organizations use D-Rats anymore.
